Geospatial science focuses on the measurement and analysis of geographical information. Geospatial science is used in many ways; for example, it can be used to map population growth of a certain species in an area, or can be used to study environmental issues in a region by analyzing the interactions of humans or other species with the physical landscape.
Geospatial science can be applied in many unique ways, from tracking flood patterns and predicting future flood areas to mapping the ocean floor to aid in searching for missing planes or shipwrecks. Geospatial scientists can work with military intelligence or in the field of environmental sustainability. If you’ve ever used Google Maps or played Pokemon Go, you have geospatial scientists to thank!
